You call -> 20 min. FREE.
- We spend a structured ~20 min. with you on the phone to understand enough to be able to advise you if an in-person visit is the right next step to begin to help your student. (If not, I refer you into the most appropriate hands given your situation -- See BellaMenti's Philosophy for details.) If so (60% of the calls will go to the next step with BellaMenti) we set up a first parent/student meeting with BellaMenti.
We prep for your Intake In-Person meeting, so that means you have some homework...
- We guide you to specific forms to download off of this website. To be able to assist your student as soon as possible, we need to know this information on these forms. So, you send them to me either by e-mail or by snail-mail.
- You send me prior assessments and student's work samples if you have them.
You come in with your student:
- We spend 1 hr to 1.5 hours doing two things:
- Based on the information we have gotten from you, we will have identified the best informal assessment tools for this meeting. We informally assess your student's information processing and academic achievement with you sitting there (quietly).
- Then, BellaMenti's informal observations/findings are discussed with the parents to define the Plan of Action. The PA has 3 phases: Immediate Intervention, Remediation and Development of Academic or Underlying Skills (such as Reading or Working Memory), and Self-Directed Achievement (goal setting as determined by maturity level).
We ALL work:
- BellaMenti and your student diligently complete 5 to 10 success oriented sessions based on their personalized Plan of Action (no fewer than 2x per week, no more than 3x per week).
- During this time, you also diligently complete the home or in-school pieces of your student's Plan of Action. The between-session practice and application activities are 50% of the Success Solution. It is similar to learning to play a musical instrument.... Our brains are the ultimate instrument for our success in life.
We reassess using the same informal tools to see if the progress we expected is on target.
We have a mini-celebration (yea!), as well as make appropriate adjustments to the Plan of Action.
We forge ahead with our 15 to 20 sessions cycle, celebrating our successes and adjusting the Plan of Action based on the reassessment data and prior session notes.
We are done when the student shows or feels success as defined by the objectives on the Plan of Action. We use data, observations, and your student's judgment to determine this. We'll miss them.
